Two

My sister's precious twins just turned two and I was stumped for the perfect gift. I did a dress and tie for them last year, but I had a pattern I was itching to try, so I decided to go for it again.
I [seriously] modified this pattern from prudent baby. I knew I wanted a longer bodice in the front and I'd already planned to add the ruffle detail on the sleeves and the bottom.

The dress was looking pretty plain as I put it together, so I added the flower on the front at the end. It was just what it needed!

I laughed when I saw the picture of Brooks in his tie. It was supposed to be a skinny tie, but I forgot how little a two year old is and it didn't turn out quite as skinny as I'd hoped :)

I think it was a success!

Dress Shirt, redesigned!

My sweet nephew Chaz is here! I'd hoped to get this to my brother and sister-in-law before his arrival, but he came a little early :)
I'd been toying with the idea of using a men's dress shirt as the outside of a diaper bag for a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I rescued this shirt from the goodwill pile. It was in great shape as it was too large for my husband and he hardly wore it!
I tried to keep as many of the shirt details as possible.
Nice roomy inside with lots of pockets.

I liked the cuff and button details on the straps.

Of course, I had to send a matching nursing cover and burp cloths as well...

Chaz, we are so glad you're here and we can't wait to meet you soon!

Keepin' it Fresh

After my first experience following a pattern and making a little dress for Ella, I've been really excited about working on clothes for my kiddos and others.

With my sister's twins fast approaching their first birthday, I knew just what I wanted to do!

A tie for the Goose.
And a dress for Pieces.

The pieces are far from perfect, but they are truly crafted with love. I hope the kids have as much fun wearing them as I did making them!
I also made Ella a little dress for her birthday. One of her favorite t-shirts got some bad stains at the bottom, so I sewed a little apron on the t-shirt and then added a flower. This is the only shot I have of her in it. We were walking Bo to school for his first day of kindergarten, hence the eating and walking.

Sadie likes her little peasant style shirt. I even felt confident enough on this one to modify the pattern a little bit. Love those colors on her!

Sadie's baptism was in September. I really wanted to make her something to wear for the occasion, but I wasn't sure exactly what and I wanted to avoid a traditional white. I decided to do coordinating dresses for the girls and little neck ties for the boys. I went with a gray/white/turquoise/green color scheme and really liked the end result.

The kids were pretty excited too!
I'm working on a few more things and honing these sewing skills. It's just like any hobby I guess: the more I learn, the more I realize I need to learn!

Sweet Sadie

I know she's my fourth, but I did not want my sweet Sadie to be left out. Since we actually found out the sex before she was born, I was able to get everything ready for her before she arrived! I'm not sure why, but I really wanted to do something that was not the traditional pink, so I opted for this fun flowered pattern and did the outside of the bag in a black corduroy. It's still nice and girly, but not all pink!

I made sure she had a matching nursing cover...

...and a few monogrammed burp cloths.

And because she's my own, I went a little crazy and did a couple embelleshed onesies for her diaper bag and around the house!

Welcome to the family Sadie!

More Seersucker!

My sister's sister-in-law...how is that for confusing?...is due with her second, a little girl, late this winter. Since it will be spring and summer before they are really out and about, we opted for this pink seersucker for little Ellie.

Love the super soft dotted fabric inside, and the accent fabric was a delicate pink with little white polka dots. I also added the ribbons on the side for an extra feminine touch!

Baby Bradford

My brother and his lovely wife are pregnant with their first, a precious little boy, who will share a name with my dad. Love it!
I peppered them with questions early in the pregnancy as I was trying to figure out fabrics and plans for Bradford's bag.
Do you have colors picked out?
What size/shape do you think you will want/need?
Would you like a monogram of his full name or just initials?
Any accessories you really want to go with it?
Let's just say that I think I overwhelmed them a bit with my questions and they weren't really sure what they would want or even what they will need. My mom was here for a bit so we picked out some fabrics together and I got to work. It really turned out well, and I enjoyed making it for them so much.
The bag is nice and roomy, and I opted for Bradford's initials since they aren't sure if he will go by his full name or a nickname.

Lots of pockets inside...

I made a nursing cover for Emily and included some matching burp cloths. Babies sure can get spitty!

And every little boy needs a necktie onesie.
I hate it that I didn't get to be at one of the showers to deliver my gift in person, but I am eagerly anticipating meeting little Bradford sometime in the next few weeks!

Baby Luke

I'm so excited for a friend who is pregnant with a little boy after a long journey of struggle and loss. I thought of her when I saw this bluish fabric with the simple pattern. Luke's nursery has a lot of khaki so hopefully it will be a good fit with his style. Congratulations and I can't wait for precious Luke to be here in a few short weeks!
